Caterina Zerra Zanetti Image Biography

I`ve always been an enthusiast of drawing and history of art. I love to create an atmosphere, a landscape, an imaginary garden, and the power of suggestion of my work. I often draw inspiration from the classical Italian decorative tradition, but each project is the product of a figurative and “spiritual” research with the client, which taps into the most diverse styles and repertoires, from nature, ancient and modern paintings, frescoes, Chinese watercolours, antique wallpapers… I love to recreate sophisticated materials like marble, stones, wood, with paint.

After graduating in Italian Literature at the University of Bologna, I moved to Rome, where I attended decorative painting, trompe l’oeil and watercolour classes at Roberto Lucifero’s Accademia del Superfluo. I apprenticed to a Roman atelier, working on various mural decorations and in restoration sites.

I then refined my skills in oil painting, faux marbles and faux woods techniques in Brussels, at the Institut Supérieur de Peinture Van der Kelen Logelain, where I graduated in 2006 with a Silver Medal with Distinction.

Since then I`ve been working as an Interior Painter and Decorator, alone or in team with other artists and architects, experimenting with different styles and techniques, working in various cities across Europe.

In 2009 I launched my own artistic workshop in Bologna, the Atelier del Colore, along with colleagues Ariane Hallier and Marta Bitelli, sharing projects and attending decoration and artistic fairs and exhibitions together.

In 2011 I moved to Milan, where I defined my own style in decoration and accumulated experience in restoration.

In 2012 I joined the Atelier de la Torre team, with whom I participated in the decorative painting of Dior Boutiques all around Europe.

Since 2013 I`ve been living and practising in London.
